"We went to Laurrapin's on a recent golf trip to Maryland. The food was unusually good and the service made us feel right at home even though we were first time visitors. In particular, the crab cakes may have been the best I ever had."

"This is my kind of place. The place is very casual. Lots of kinds of beers, they had a band playing, the service was attentive and friendly, the menu was outstanding, and the food was very good. If I lived in this town, I'd be here twice a week. We had the duck (very good), the local strip steak (grass-fed at a local farm 2 miles down the road, outstanding), a tuna tartar appetizer (the best) and the Caesar salad (quality). And the apple dumpling for dessert was pretty ridonkulous. Very cool laid back place, with great chefs and great servers, and apparently, great management. Oh - and they had the most refreshing drink special of the day - some kind of vodka and fresh-squeezed pink grapefruit. The tops."

"As frequent LP dinners, we especially appreciate the focus on high quality (often organic) ingredients and humane treatment of the animals (without added hormones) used in some dishes. Vegetarian dishes also are very tasty and satisfying. We particularly enjoy the new special weekend items very creative and especially delicious. The staff members are very personable and remember our names."

I take weekend trip to Havre De Grace every year and pepper day trips in when I can. We hit up Laurrapin Grille for the first time this year and I'm smacking myself for never trying it before. We went based on the reviews in the journal in our cottage. The waiter was excellent. We started with the crab dip served in a bread bowl with pita wedges. The dip was creamy and full of crab. I ordered the salmon ("Wild caught or organically farm raised salmon encrusted with a coriander rub and pan seared, served with a smoked orange butter sauce") and added crab meat. While the salmon was delicious I immediately had entree envy as my husband's crab cakes were to die for. Add a bottle of Jacob's Creek Riesling and our evening was wonderful. This place will see my face often.

"Great Food, Great Service. Have been going to Laurrapin for years now, since before the expansion. Love this place, plus you can't beat an evening in Havre de Grace. Both the Town and this Restaurant are Harford County gems."

"What a pleasant surprise! And what great food and service! We went there by chance as it is roughly equidistant between DC and Philly and my other half and I wanted to have dinner at a nice place. For starters, they honored our reservations right on time. I like that. Even when they were full. I've been to other places where you go there punctually and have to wait forever. The service was excellent, close to outstanding. My water glass never went below half full. We were seated at a two-pack which meant space was at a premium, and the bus-staff was quite adept at removing what wasn't needed. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu as well as the wine selection. I was impressed. The food. Exquisite, well prepared and attractive. We had the crab and lobster cake appetizer, their house salad and we both had their Rockfish. The appetizer and salad each was sizeable enough for sharing between two people. The rockfish was delicately cooked and served over a melange bed that was fantastic. We're going back.

"I love this place. The staff and kitchen are obviously passionate about good, creative food."
(Katherine from Havre de Grace, MD)
With a commitment to locally sourced meat, herbs, and vegetables, and a creative menu of Mediterranean-inspired foods, this has to be one of my favorites in the area. I had the duck with cherry sauce and it was excellent, but the standout was the accompanying confit of duck leg which was luscious and decadent. They also serve what is probably the best gazpacho I've had at any restaurant anywhere in the United States -- slightly spicy, thick, chunky, and topped with fresh crab meat. Highly recommended for a romantic evening out but not stuffy or formal.

"We went to Laurrapin Grill to celebrate a birthday. We were met with smiling faces and great service"
(David from Aberdeen, MD)
This is our favorite restaurant! My boyfriend and I go here a couple times a month. The specials are continuously changing and there are great themed evenings like Kentucky Derby night featuring food and drink specials made with bourbon & a Gastro pub weekend with English themed food and beer. They have live music on a regular basis and a great wait staff. The ingredients are local whenever possible and include locally-raised hormone-free meats. If you're a dessert person don't miss their baked banana!

"Great meal - a find in this quaint town! The chef is doing a great job - creative, local, healthy, and delicious. We are "foodies" and all had a wonderful meal!"

"Bruce and Sherifa like to think outside the box - a welcome change from most small-town restaurants. Most of the time it works and we definitely have our favorites that keep us coming back."

"Laurrapin is Amazing, we always love it and we ALWAYS go there. The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing!"

We've been living in Havre de Grace for 4 years and The Laurrapin is hands down the best restaurant in town. The atmosphere us upbeat bistro, the food superb, and the management and servers totally professional and in tune to the customer's needs. Whether it's a burger, or the signature Rockfish you want, you can bet it'll be top of the line quality. And they're always experimenting with new dishes and hit the mark every time. It's HdG's happening place -- especially during Friday night Happy Hours.

What a place! Great food, good service. picturesque location. The staff is friendly, efficient and fun. The Laurrapin has something for everyone. Quieter days; food, music and entertainment evenings and weekends. Bring your friends!

I live just over the bridge in Perryville and usually make my way over to Havre De Grace when I'm in the mood to eat out locally (there just isn't anything local in Perryville worth a look). I went to the Laurrapin Grill based on the way it looked from the outside when I was driving by one night. Boy was I impressed when I eventually got in! The decor and bar area and quite singular for the area. It looks upscale without everyone inside coming off that way. Most of the patrons were wearing the typical 40+ locals only attire - a tucked in polo dockers and docksiders. The wait staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable of the food and wine and seem to take pride in what they're serving. The food itself is amazing and not at all what I expected from anything in Havre De Grace. The usual food I'm used to in Havre De Grace is "OK" seafood which is overpriced in places whose decor has needed an upgrade for twenty years. I don't think I could point anyone in the wrong direction as far as food selection goes. Anything you get here is going to be cooked well and with pride. Definitely make sure you get the bread sampler at the beginning.

The Laurrapin is one of our favorite places. We enjoy the bar, the occasional live music and the atmosphere all together. The food is always excellent and the menu unique and varied. This is a must stop if you are in HdG.

I normally don't believe in giving a restaurant 5 stars unless I'm completely wowed when I leave (which never happens). However, I can say with certainty that the Laurrapin is probably the closest restaurant to 5 stars in havre de grace, maybe even Harford county.

Food and service was great. My coworker and I went and they were having their "Steamer" night so I had a half pound of shrimp for an appetizer then the crab cakes as an entree. The crab cakes were really good and filled with a lot of crab and lobster meat. We split the strawberry bread pudding which was amazing. The strawberries came from local farmers.

Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We sampled four very good small plates from the lunch menu and four delicious dinners from the dinner menu. In addition to the menus, we were able to enjoy some of the daily specials. The wine and beer lists were also very good and we were able to round out our meals with excellent libations. We will return to this very fine restaurant

We went to Laurrapin's on a recent golf trip to Maryland. The food was unusually good and the service made us feel right at home even though we were first time visitors. In particular, the crab cakes may have been the best I ever had. The shrimp and bruschetta appetizers also went over very well as did the Asparagus Fries. We all shared a Mediterranean salad which was again well above average. The wine list was not memorable but we found a very good Estancia Meritage. We ended up staying in the bar for after dinner drinks and completing a fine dining experience. You wouldn't go wrong choosing Laurrapin's if you are visiting the area.
